Crowthorne Parish Commemorates D-Day

At Avocado Property, we take immense pride in highlighting events that bring our local community together. One of the recent standout events was the D-Day commemoration hosted by the Crowthorne Parish Council to event was a tribute to D Day on its 80th anniversary at the Morgan Recreation Ground in Crowthorne on 6th June.


The day's proceedings began at 9am with CPC councillors and staff, Thames Valley Police, and the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service raising the flag. Councillor Bob Wade said, “Today we will be paying our respects to all those who fought valiantly and sacrificed their lives for us.”

Nearly 300 school children from the parish created and displayed WWII-inspired artwork, adding a special touch to the event.

Event Highlights:
  • 15:30: The free family event began with various activities and displays.
  • 18:45: The outdoor cinema screening of "Dunkirk".
  • 21:15: The day concluded with a beacon lighting ceremony.

Additional Attractions:
  • Food stalls from local businesses.
  • Displays of children’s artwork.
  • Choir performances of WWII-era songs.
  • An international tribute with beacon lighting.

This event was memorable and important as it honoured the sacrifices of those who fought in WWII, providing a reminder of the bravery and resilience shown during D-Day. Additionally, it brought Crowthorne’s community together in a shared moment of reflection and appreciation for our history, fostering a sense of unity and collective gratitude.
