From Amazon Panic Buy to Property Icon: The Story of Alan the Avocado

Whether you’re buying, selling, or just thinking about your next move—Alan (and your local Avocado Partner Agent) will be ready to welcome you with open arms, open doors, and elite level service throughout.

Every great story has an unlikely hero. Ours came in the form of a £4.99 keyring… named Alan.
Back in 2020, we’d just launched Avocado Property, fuelled by big ideas, sleepless nights, and a passion to give clients something completely different from the usual estate agency experience. What we hadn’t expected? Completing our first ever property sale in just under six weeks from finding a buyer.

We were thrilled. But there was just one problem…

We hadn’t prepared a single thing for completion day.

No branded gifts. No fancy packaging. Just a very real moment of panic.

🥑 Enter Alan: Our Accidental Legend

In a late-night scramble, two avocado keyrings were ordered off Amazon. Thank god for Prime next day delivery! No time to think. And the next day,
Alan arrived, and unknowingly Alan was about to turn into an icon of celebrity status.
We handed him over with the keys, a smile, and a bit of a laugh.
But then... Alan hit Instagram.
The response was instant. Our buyers loved him. Comments poured in. Photos were tagged. Alan, the last-minute mascot was suddenly on his way to becoming a local celeb.

🥑 From Two to a Thousand

Fast forward to now? We don’t order two Alans anymore.
We order a thousand. Direct from the source. (No, we can’t tell you where from. Some Avocado secrets are reserved for us ONLY!)
Alan is no longer just a keyring. He’s part of the celebration of moving day, a symbol of the difference between “just another estate agent” and an Avocado experience.

🥑 Because Completion Day Should Feel Like Magic

Let’s be honest, completion day can feel underwhelming with a typical estate agent.
You’re asked to pick up keys from a sterile office in the middle of town. There’s no excitement. No one even says congratulations half the time.
Not on our watch! That’s not how we do things.
At Avocado, we believe moving home is a huge moment. It should be personal, joyful, and memorable.
That’s why every one of our partner agents meets their clients in person on completion day. Keys in hand, gifts at the ready, and Alan along for the ride. People love the gifts but we all know Alan is the main event! He’s there to remind people that this isn’t just a transaction. It’s a new beginning.

🥑 Alan: The Gift That Keeps on Giving

We’ve had clients email us two years after moving, in a panic, not about their home, but because their original Alan had lost his key chain. One client told us their child adored Alan and couldn’t bear to lose him.
Nobody wants unhappy children; so we sent five.
Because when you buy or sell with Avocado, you’re part of something that goes beyond bricks and mortar. It’s about care, community, and a little fun along the way.

🥑 A Symbol of the Avocado Standard

Alan might be small, but he represents something big:
✅ Completion day, done properly
✅ Personal connection with your agent
✅ A service that actually celebrates the journey
✅ And a little quirkiness, just for good measure
Whether you’re buying, selling, or just thinking about your next move—Alan (and your local Avocado Partner Agent) will be ready to welcome you with open arms, open doors, and elite level service throughout.

🍾 Thinking of Moving?

Let’s make sure your completion day is one to remember.
Just don’t be surprised if Alan steals the show.

If you listened to the doom merchants, you would think first-time buyers (FTB) in Sandhurst had no chance at all. According to the loudest voices, buying a first home is impossible, the ladder has been pulled up, and the only people who buy their first homes today are lottery winners or those with wealthy parents.

As we hit the third week of December, the Tadley property market does slow down ready for the big day. It’s at this time of year, I like to work out the total value of every home in Tadley, and how that value has changed since 2010 (as that was the bottom of the market after the Credit Crunch).

The Chancellor’s Autumn Budget has finally arrived after months of rumour, leaked ideas and speculation. Many households in Crowthorne had braced themselves for a sweeping new annual tax on homes above £500,000.
