Georgina's spring cleaning tips for sellers and landlords

Quick tip time! Spring Cleaning.

It goes without saying that a spring clean will be required in preparation to sell or let your home if you want to achieve the best price. As a minimum, it needs vacuuming, no washing up, clean hob etc prior to all viewings.

Here are my TOP FIVE areas viewers notice.. so you should pay extra attention to them prior to the initial viewings:

1. Taps and bathroom fixtures: remove limescale and watermarks. Once clean “buffer” with a dry cloth to make those taps sparkle!

2. Condensation marks: Get rid! People almost always assume it is damp and it is hugely off putting. Cleaning with mould remover spray and a quick re-paint will go a long way.

3. Tile grouting: Freshen up to remove pesky yellow/pinky stains. Consider regrouting if stains won’t budge or if there are any cracks.

4. Cobwebs: No one wants to see them. Especially in hard-to-reach places like the highest point over the stairs and light fittings.

5. Kids “artwork” and finger marks on walls, floors etc. Criminal not to remove/ paint over if you want your home to appear well looked after.

I appreciate it may all seem daunting, however, I feel passionate that these extra things above will at the very least increase the appeal of your house for viewings. It could even bag you more money if selling, simply because your home is “move-straight-in-able” and yes… that is the technical term!

Are you contemplating moving home in Yateley during the next 9 months?

There is a growing shift taking place in the Bicester property market, and it is not one that can be ignored. While much of the national conversation focuses on house prices and interest rates, a quieter yet more revealing metric is beginning to stand out, how long properties are taking to sell.

Across the UK and here in Bicester, the property market remains surprisingly active despite the issues at home and abroad. House prices are steady, buyers are still being selective, and the market itself is evolving.

Young people have been locked out of homeownership. Deposits are impossible to save. Mortgage rules are too strict. And ‘Generation Rent’ is now permanent. According to the narrative by the newspapers, younger generation homeownership has collapsed.
